- For those of you lucky enough to be in the state of Michigan, the Michigan Tuition grant is a great resource for college funding needs. As with almost everywhere, costs of higher education has gone up and any grant funding can help the college student.
Michigan university tuition can be covered or partially covered with the grant. As with all grants, you must qualify. Here is a partial list of qualifications for the Michigan Tuition Grant:
1. You must prove a real need for financial help
2. Enroll as at least a half-time student at an approved independent, degree-granting Michigan post-secondary
institution
3. To qualify for the Michigan Tuition Grant , you must have a high school diploma or GED to meet the program’s standards
4. Important: You MUST be a Michigan resident since July 1 of the PRIOR calendar year. For 2011, must have been a resident since July 1, 2010.
5. You must also be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
6. You cannot be in prison when applying
7. Cannot be enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree in theology, divinity, or religious education
8. Here is another big qualification: You cannot be in default on a federal student loan
There are more requirements and details of the program, but these are a few to help you decide on the Michigan Tuition Grant. Please note this grant is available to UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS. If this disqualifies you from the program, there are other Michigan tuition funding sources available, so don’t give up!!!
Michigan university tuition will likely increase along with the trend in the rest of the nation, so it would be a good idea to explore this avenue of college funding if you are facing a shortfall in your finances.
