I love to find “Lists” of things on the internet, especially when seeking out Grants and Scholarships. One of the areas most searched for on IndividualGrantsOnline.com is in the area of Nursing and Medical Grants. Over the past few months I have run across some excellent sites which lists grants or scholarships available to train in the Nursing field.

Please note that there seems to be a general distinction between those wanting to train to be a Doctor or Surgeon and those who simply want an education in Nursing. This may be true only to a degree, however this is my perception from searching for these grants. Some of the grants / scholarships are rather small and some are considerably larger, but hey, every little bit helps, right? So here are some lists of Nursing Grants to and some sites that provide more information:

1. Nurse Scholarships are available at the Health Resources and Services administration.  This program provides good funding in exchange for working for 2 years at certain facilities directed by the program.

2. CollegeScholarships.org has a page specifically designed to nursing.

3.  The Michigan Center for Nursing has a great page for funding here.

4. The Michigan League for Nurses currently offers scholarships in the amount of $1000.00.

5.  Johnson and Johnson offers a “Discover Nursing” scholarship for people who qualify.

6. The National Student Nurses association is another funding organization which has given millions in the nursing field.

8. The Nursing Schools Guide is a good site about varying nursing degree programs and scholarships.

9. Disadvantages Students scholarship in the Nursing field are also available.

10.  Information about the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corp is available here.  There are 3 different programs for students to receive training while serving their country.

11. The US Army ROTC provides scholarships in Nursing.

12. The American Nurses Association provides a Ethnic and Minority PreDoctoral and Postdoctoral fellowship for qualified persons.

13. The Emergency Nurses Association provides scholarship funding information on their homepage here.

14. The American Cancer Society offers $15,000 per year scholarships for Doctoral Degrees in Cancer Nursing.  They also provide an additional scholarship for Graduates in Cancer Nursing Practice.

16. The Oncology Nursing Society Foundation Scholarships can be found here.

17. Nursing scholarships are available for Hispanics at the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.

18. Grants and Fellowships are offered by the Epilepsy Foundation.

19. The American Association of Critical Care Nurses Scholarship information is available here.

20. People involved in active duty for the Army (or are a reservist) can receive money to complete a Bachelors in Science in Nursing.

One surprise I had in doing this post was the number of places someone to go to to receive funding in this growing area of healthcare.  Look for more posts in the future on nursing scholarship opportunities.
